For job posters
Posting a job
We only share your phone number with the tradespeople interested in your job – no other companies. Your number is NEVER displayed publicly.
Once approved by you, we send tradespeople an alert containing your phone number.
You are able to decline any of the tradesmen who express interest in your job listing. If you are unhappy with the tradespeople interested in your job, you are able to remove and re-list it.
You will be notified of interested tradespeople for your jobs and be invited to compare profiles using our online features.
End your job listing by logging into your account. If you haven’t shortlisted anyone for the job, it will be marked as cancelled. If you have shortlisted tradespeople you are not able to cancel your job. You are able to message and hire or decline your shortlisted tradespeople.
If your job description has little information, it’s hard to connect you to the right tradespeople. Simply edit your job description to allow us to find the right person for your job.
Post a job by submitting your listing. Include a detailed description, including dimensions, work dates, preferred materials, specific skills and plans. After your job listing is approved, it will go live for tradespeople to express interest. Don’t include sensitive information in your listing – you will be connected to a tradesperson once your job has been confirmed and accepted.
Hiring a tradesperson
We conduct strict background checks to ensure all tradespeople are properly qualified. We check evidence of qualifications, accreditations and memberships before registering them with us. It is also your responsibility to check credentials before hiring a tradesperson. We recommend also reviewing feedback from previous clients.
The final agreed price is never made public – only you and your tradesperson know.
You’re able to choose from the existing interested tradespeople or simply relist your job for additional quotes.
No, you are never obliged to hire someone found through us. You’re able to cancel or remove your listing before you accept a tradesperson’s offer.
Once interested tradespeople have provided you with quotes, you’re able to accept or decline. We release your contact details to interested tradespeople, so you should expect communication once your job has received some interest.
We recommend discussing problems with your tradesperson to privately resolve the matter. If you feel like you’ve been unfairly treated, contact your local Trading Standards Office or visit Citizens Advice for impartial consumer assistance. Please note that we are unable to get involved in any disputes between you and your tradesperson. Please thoroughly review all feedback before hiring your tradesperson.

Feedback is one of our most important features. We manually check all job listings and feedback posts to ensure all information is accurate, relevant, genuine and fair.
We request all tradespeople to contact you in advance if availability changes. We record all instances of missed appointments and persistent offenders are removed from Builders Quotes.
Log in to your account and find the tradesperson you have used in your list. Provide them with feedback using the ‘leave feedback’ button. Feedback is only allowed to be left after a job has been completed fully.
Review tradespeople feedback before hiring them to decide whether or not their skills and experience meets your needs. Provide feedback after working with a tradesperson to provide the next customer with valuable information. All honest and genuine tradespeople are happy to display feedback from previous clients.
Feedback is a valuable way for others to learn about tradespeople on our site. Sharing your experience allows you to endorse particular tradespeople and express their strengths and your overall satisfaction with their professionalism and workmanship. For tradespeople, feedback is a great way to strengthen your reputation and hireability.
According to policy, if you have paid a fee for an expression of interest you are unable to obtain a refund or credit for the amount of the fee.
Our fee for the lead
Under £75 = £4
Between £75-250 = £9
Between £250-£750 = £14
Between £750-£2000 = £20
Between £2000-£5000 = £32
Jobs above £5000 = £50
There is no fee to join Builders Quotes. You only pay when expressing interest on a lead depending on the size of the job
Joining Builders Quotes
If you would like to discuss or withdraw an application, simply contact us.
If we believe that we are unable to help a tradesperson find work, we may decline an application. Depending on circumstances we sometimes invite tradespeople to reapply.
Complete a short evaluation for each trade categories. Submit your ID documentation when prompted and await contact from our staff. Once accepted, we will activate your account to start receiving leads relevant to you.
This depends on the nature of your work, the number of jobs in your area and the number of tradespeople.

Job posters are able to search our directly and invite individual tradespeople to quote. You are able to accept the invitation or treat it like a normal lead by expressing an interest. You will be charged a shortlist fee for accepting an invitation.
Billing and settings
To close your account follow the prompts in your settings. If you have any questions about emails, work or other concerns related to Builders Quotes contact us.
We automatically allocate credit notes against any new or outstanding invoices.
If an invoice is overdue your account may be restricted and leads may be withheld from you. It is important to pay any overdue invoices as soon as possible. If you require assistance or advice, contact us as soon as possible.
Change your registered card by creating a new agreement. We will automatically cancel your old agreement.

This means that we have checked a tradesperson’s liability insurance documents. Be sure to check a tradesperson’s public liability insurance before carrying out any work.
The employer’s liability insurance covers an employer against claims from employees for injury while working for the employer. Employer’s liability insurance is required under the Employers Liability Compulsory Insurance Act by any UK business employing staff or subcontractors.
A business not covered by public liability insurance is exposed to serious financial risks if found liable for damages or compensation.
Our public liability insurance covers damage or accidental injury to a third party or property caused by a tradesperson, their employees or their business. It also covers legal fees and hospital costs. It also covers claims made by members of the public against a tradesperson, their employees or their business. Public liability insurance does not cover claims from tradesperson employees or sub-contractors for damage or injury.
We require all tradespeople to verify ID. We take your privacy seriously and safeguard your ID documents. Your details will never be posted publicly or shared.
When verifying your ID, you will be asked to provide a clear photo of your passport or driver’s licence and an image of your face for your public profile. We keep your photo ID documents private and use them only to verify your identity.
What ID documents are acceptable?
We accept passports, driving licence photocards and European ID cards.

You are able to submit full current copies and details of your insurance to be viewed by customers whose jobs you are interested in.
You are able to submit details of previous customers willing to provide references for you. Always seek customer permission before doing so. We verify your references before allowing them on your profile. Please note that your reference may be declined if we are unable to reach your contact or if their information is not 100% genuine.
Job posters are asked to provide as much detail as possible in their job listing. If you find that a job contains inadequate information contact us. If possible, we will do our best to find out more for you.

When you express interest in a job, you are buying a lead. Your contact details are shared with the customer when you express interest. A maximum of three tradespeople can show interest and buy leads for each job. You will see whether you are the first, second or third person to buy a lead.

Like most service providers, most tradespeople will receive negative or neutral feedback during their careers, but most will go on to win plenty of work regardless. We recommend analysing the negative review critically, learning from it, attempting to rectify the client’s opinion or replying responsibly, professionally and respectfully to their feedback. We are unable to get involved in disputes, but customers are able to remove feedback.
New tradespeople are able to provide details of two previous customers willing to give a recommendation. Reference feedback is subject to the same rigorous checks of authenticity and accuracy. Your account may be closed if we suspect your references are fake.
Customers review your previous testimonials or feedback before hiring you. After a job is completed, the customer is prompted to provide you with some feedback. There is a strong incentive to do your best in order to get positive feedback, increasing your chances of getting more work and better feedback. We verify all feedback to ensure that it is fair, genuine and accurate.
Feedback is a review of a job poster’s experience with a tradesperson. Potential customers are able to review your feedback before they hire you. Feedback is critical to enhancing your reputation and showcasing your skills through genuine customer testimonials.
